Based on this trailer, it seems like Rebirth will follow the events of Final Fantasy 7 very closely, as it alludes to some pretty big reveals and iconic moments. It's also worth noting this trailer shows off a noticeable improvement in graphics, proving Square Enix is making good use of the PlayStation 5's upgraded hardware.

While trailers make it seem like the game will still be very similar to the original, exactly what will unfold is not entirely clear. Additionally, Nomura has repeatedly alluded to "surprising developments" in Rebirth. Similarly, game director Naoki Hamaguchi has teased a "big surprise" for a memorable scene.

The gameplay is a departure from previous entries in the series in many ways. Though it retains the Active Time Battle pseudo-turn based menu command system, Final Fantasy VII features three party members rather than four. The Materia system allows the player to customize each party member's abilities to their liking, and the Limit system grants them unique combat skills.

The rocket fails to destroy Meteor, and as the party gazes at their world from outer space they reaffirm their conviction to protect it, deciding to uncover what Aeris' plan to stop Meteor had been.

However, the real battle lies not with a corporation, but a force much more competent from the distant past. A long-thought dead warrior bent on becoming a god by draining all of the Lifestream from the Planet has risen again and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.

However, being less blown away by its tricks and effects, the game feels imbalanced today: Strong emphasis on a story - which is told in an incoherent way. Tons of mini-games and short action sequences - but they suffer from clunky controls and often lack balance and pace. An abundance of items, equipment and magic, and an interesting concept of how they interact with each other - yet most of it is utterly useless in battle. Still a great game, but I have to admit that the appeal for me is nostalgia and technical fascination. It does not hold up as well as the older Square greats like FFVI, Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger, which I believe I would enjoy if I played them for the first time today. With FFVII, I am not so sure.

Cloud Strife is the main protagonist, introducing himself as a former member of SOLDIER who now operates as a mercenary.

Cloud is caught up in the actions of eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE, and although initially uncaring toward their mission, he has a change of heart when he begins to discover his shrouded past.

In this standalone adventure for fans and newcomers, Cloud and his comrades venture across the planet, their fates unwritten, making each step outside the dystopian city of Midgar fresh and mysterious.

In general, it's a good game and the best part of it is its interesting story and great characters. Despite that, I think that there are lots of mechanics (above all the combat system) which feel sooo clunky and archaic.

Cid Highwind, the foul-mouthed, chain-smoking pilot of Rocket Town dreams of being the first man in space. His dreams were foiled when he was forced to abort the mission. Despite his bitter attitude, Cid has a final fantasy 7 rebirth good heart and cares about his friends.

Nostalgia brought me back to this game but, nostalgia couldn’t save this game, as about halfway I got tremendously bored and had to use a Nintendo boost to get me through the rest of it.
